Girls Win Utah County Invite - Very Narrow Margain...

Hey Guys,

just wanted to say congratulations to all those who particpated in this weekends track meet. Our girls team in a very close battle with The rest of the teams, were able to pull of a very narrow victory over Springville (we ended up winning by two points)

So for those of you that were there when we received our tropy for 2nd place, and are wondering how that happened... We found that they did not have our correct 4x4 time in and when that was fixed had enough points to overtake Springville...

So great job to all... our boys were 8th overall and 4th in 4A. But that counts polevault which isn't scored at region or state.

We deffinately have some big opportunities ahead of us. But this weekend will set the team up nicely for our meet this Saturday, BYU, then Region.

Only a few weeks left, lets really focus and commit to doing the best we can over the next few weeks.

thanks,

Andy

Orem's Tiger Trials - Help Needed

Hello Everyone,

We are quickly approaching our Tiger Trials track meet (Saturday 30th), and I am in need of some parental help.

We anticipate about 15 schools to be attending. It is intentionally not a big meet. When we scheduled the meet with the state, the Orem calander was clear. then Prom showed up on the calander on the same day. We are encouraging the team to do their day dates on Friday after school, so that they can compete and help out during the meet.

The meet starts at 9:00 AM and we anticipate it to be completely done by 2-3 PM at the latest. (I am a stickler for schedule, so usually run a very tight meet)

Here is what we are in need of:

1> We are looking for 4-5 adults to help put together and run our concessions during the track meet. This is a great way for the team to raise money for equipment and other program needs. Depending on how you want to do it, we could use the school costco card to purchase drinks, food etc...

2> During the meet we have made arrangements for USATF officials to be at the meet, but it takes a bunch of people to run a meet. Pulling tape for long jump, helping in the field events like shot/disc/jav, press box with computers, etc...

3> Computers - If anyone has a computer or two that they would be willing to donate to the track team, we would love to be able to set up more of a permanent timing solution for our team. We have a great timing set up now, but to be able to use the equipment, I usually have to bring personal computers from home... and that is not always practical. We are thinking of purchasing a couple computers to be used, but thought we would reach out to our Track community/support group first to see if there are any options available. I have specific computer requirements if you need that information.

If there is something you can help with, please call me or send me an email and I will gather names and make assignments.

thank you for all of the support,

Andy Jacobs

Half Way Point of the Season !!!

Hey Guys,

This Saturday's Meet will mark the 1/2 way point of the 2011 Track Season. This week and next will be critical for your individual and team success.

This Saturday we are going to be participating in the UHSTCA meet at Timpanogas High School. This will be another great opportunity to gain some race experience as well as provide an opportunity to qualify for the State Meet.

I know some of you will be going on Spring Break retreats next week, so for you this meet is even more important.

We will be holding practice over Spring Break each day... and for those of you that will be gone, it will be critical for you to find a way to workout each day.

We will talk more about it this week... but whatever you do, make it a great week of training.

Thanks,

Andy
